UN Women National Committee Canada President, Almas Jiwani, met with OSM Solar Form Corp in Welland, Ontario to discuss ways to bring solar and wind technology to Africa. They discussed how renewable energy represents a key sector in the development of Africa and opportunity for empowering women and furthering gender equality. Renewable energy presents a number of economic and environmental benefits, and has the potential to improve the quality of life for many in the most remote communities in rural Africa, many of whom cannot afford traditional electricity. Unfortunately, many are women.
