There are 38 African ambassadors in Ottawa, one of which is the chair of the women’s forum and she is from Rwanda. She invited Almas to attend the 50th anniversary celebration of Rwanda and wanted to talk about the African trade mission in Africa. This fits well with UNW’s mandate as we focus on women’s economic empowerment. The National Committee will send them proposal asking if they can host an event for us. They need a proposal so they can table it at the ambassador’s meeting. Rwanda’s Ambassador also wants to send Almas to Rwanda because their election is coming up and Almas can help engage women to vote. Tentatively Almas has agreed to travel to Rwanda.
