Building upon the success of the first two Film Festivals held by Istanbul University in 2011 and 2012, the Third International Crime and Punishment Film Festival took place in Istanbul on September 13-19. About hundred films were screened, alongside academic panels and workshops. The participants – both academics and filmmakers – hailed from all over the world. The Film Festival also introduced awards which are presented for both cinematic and academic achievements. Throughout the Festival, about 30 country reports were presented by distinguished guests from all over the world, including Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women Canada Committee, Prof. Dr. Hans-Joerg Albrecht, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg and Prof. Dr. Peter van der Laan from the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement.
