The Honourable Senator Mobina S.B. Jaffer presented Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women Canada National Committee with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Ms. Jiwani was selected as a recipient of the award by virtue of her tireless efforts and contributions towards gender equality and human rights within Canada and abroad. Ms. Jiwani was presented with the medal at a UN Women Canada National Committee luncheon attended by an elite assembly of influential Canadian leaders, in addition to high-level visiting United Nations dignitaries including Ms. Lakshmi Puri, Assistant Secretary-General for Intergovernmental Support and Strategic Partnerships at the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women
