At the conference, Ms. Jiwani discussed the theme, “Violence Against Women: Complex Realities and New Issues in a Changing World.” At Ms. Jiwani’s address, the Quebec Minister of Culture and Communications, St. Pierre, alongside political decision makers, students, civil society groups, and dignitaries came together to discuss theoretical models and responses to violence against women.
“We are very pleased that Ms. Jiwani has agreed to attend the opening session of our conference. Violence against women is a priority area for UN Women and its presence at our conference, which brings together more than 600 participants from more than 40 nationalities, will bring a global perspective to this issue,” said Maryse Rinfret-‐Raynor, chairperson of the conference scientific committee.
