EAWC Goddess Artemis Award Ceremony for UNIFEM President Almas Jiwani – Athens Greece

In Athens Greece, Loula Loi Alfoyannis and the Mayor of Athens recognized the role of Almas in promoting cross cultural dialogue and facilitating leadership and humanitarian development of women across the world. At the magnificent Zappeion Megaron Palace, Ms. Jiwani was awarded the 2010 Artemis Award. In addition, she was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in Delos Greece. In sequel to the Artemis Award, the Hellenic Post Office Authority also issued commemorative stamps in her honor.

Almas Jiwani, a noted Canadian entrepreneur, President and CEO of Frontier Canada Inc., and the President of the Canadian National Committee of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM Canada), was recognized for her
continuous and exceptional work in eliciting awareness of equal rights for women and encouraging the empowerment of women. Ms. Jiwani was one of 6 distinguished honourees bestowed with the “Goddess Artemis Award”, in Athens, Greece, at the Euro-­‐American Women’s Council’s (EAWC) lavish red carpet ceremony recognizing her endeavours in promote cross-­‐cultural dialogue and humanitarian development of women across the world.

In accordance with this Award, Ms. Jiwani will also be inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame, on July 13, 2010, at the Goddess Artemis birthplace, on the sacred island of Delos.
