UN Women National Committee Canada President Almas Jiwani attended the first ever U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit

Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women National Committee Canada attended the first ever U.S.- Africa Leaders Summit on August 6th, 2014 in Washington D.C. Ms. Jiwani stated: “It was an absolute delight and honor to attend the first ever U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit with nearly 40 African heads of state in Washington, DC”

In attendance were dignitaries, politicians and leaders from across the African continent for the first summit of its kind. The Summit focused on the Obama Administration’s relationship with the continent and brought together African leaders to discuss important issues along the theme of “Investing in the Next Generation,” including women’s rights, regional security, and economic investment for development.
