The 2nd Annual Global Sikh Civil Rights Conference invited Ms. Jiwani to address the event “Preserving our Past and Investing in our Future.” At the conference Ms. Jiwani used her knowledge of religion and women’s rights to raise the topic of women’s right, and the discrimination and marginalization of women in South Asian communities. Alongside, United States of America Chief Justice, Bob Rae, and Barbara Hall from Amnesty International, Ms. Jiwani bought attention to violence against women and how the Sikh religion and Punjabi tradition that places a strong emphasis on equality of women can be used as an impetus to stop this injustice.
