“We are celebrating the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day in Hamilton, ON. To have Ms. Almas Jiwani as the Keynote Speaker is an honour,” said Ruby Sarmiento Amog, Chair of Zonta Club of Hamilton II. “A woman with great passion in advocating for women, she has exemplified the ideals of volunteerism through her immense contribution to humanitarian work and is visible in her exceptional leadership role in regional, national, and international charitable and humanitarian organizations.”
In March 2011 on International Women’s Day, Ms. Jiwani worked with Board Members from Zonta International’s Hamilton Chapter to launch UN Women in Hamilton, Ontario and also celebrate the history and role of women on International Women’s Day. Ms. Jiwani’s speech riveted the speech and she used it as an opportunity to raise the plight of women and raise funds for Jared’s Place, a legal advocacy network for women and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.
